It keeps getting better! No doubt I’ll be one of 225 authors posting today about Samhain’s new deal with Kensington. I know a lot of Samhain writers are thinking about how this will affect them personally, but it’s a strong motivator to write a great book, I assure you!
Even if a title does not make the “Kensington cut” so to speak, sales in general for Samhain should increase, which is great news for those of us who have thrown in everything we have there. Of course, the flip side is that everyone will want to be there, and it will get much more competitive to get a contract.
In general, I think this is a good sign. New York has recognized that there’s gold in some of these smaller presses, and they want a piece of it. Good for us all, I think!
So, this begs the question: how do you pick an epublisher? I chose to submit to Samhain because everyone on their author list when I subbed was a big name in epublishing, or was already signed in New York. It seems that was a good strategy!
